1) Christkindlmarket (Chicago, IL)
Dates 2022: November 18-December 24
Location: 3 locations, the largest being at Daley Plaza
Hours: Sunday – Thursday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday – Saturday: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Christkindlmarket was created by the German-American Midwest Chamber of Commerce and is heavily modeled after the original Christkindlesmarkt located in Nuremberg, Germany. This free event perfectly combines old-world European decorations with sleek, modern food and gift vendors. Christkindlmarket aims for an authentic German Christmas market experience, even going so far as to import gluehwein, a famous holiday staple, directly from Germany.

2) Bank of America Winter Village (New York, NY)
Dates 2022: October 28-March 5
Location: Bryant Park
Hours: Monday – Friday: 11am-8pm, Saturday & Sunday: 10am-8pm

Bryant Park’s Winter Village is the oldest market on our list – running from late October to early March and promises a fun and festive time for everyone in the family. There are hundreds of festively decorated food and gift stalls with garlands offering everything from Christmas decorations to Asian cuisine. Bryant Park also has a large skating rink with free admission (skate rentals start at $18.00). Once you’re done skating, head to the multiple pop-up bars in the Winter Village to enjoy mulled wine and soak up the beautiful New York atmosphere. 3) Downtown Holiday Market (Washington, DC)
Dates 2022: November 18-December 23
Location: Love Park and City Hall
Hours: 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Downtown Washington DC Christmas Market has it all. A varied and stellar musical lineup, artisanal products, specialty food items and even artificial snow falling from above. The event promises Christmas tunes from different artists every night of the festival and will have more than 70 different vendors, including many black-owned businesses and military veterans. 4) Christmas Village (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
Dates 2022: November 19-December 24
Location: Centered on 8th and F Streets, NW
Hours: Sunday – Thursday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., Friday – Saturday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Philadelphia’s Christmas market, like Chicago’s, is inspired by traditional German markets. Vendors offer artisan products and specialties such as waffles, Bratwurst, mulled wine and homemade gingerbread. Along with authentic, high-quality food and drink, the venue offers rides such as a Ferris wheel and a Christmas train that kids are sure to love.

5) Savannah Christmas Market (Savannah, Georgia)
Dates 2022: November 25-January 2
Location: Riverside District Factory

Last on our list is a newcomer to the US Christmas market scene. For less than 5 years, the Savannah Christmas Market has been inspired by Salzburg’s Christkindlmarkt, which has been held in Salzburg, Austria since 1974. The Savannah Christmas Market offers riverside views and parades, as well as light shows and music from the First Baptist Church Choir. The event is also family-friendly, offering many activities for children and photos with Santa Claus!
