Taking Islamic Finance Education to New Heights

The INCEIF Refinitiv Islamic Finance Knowledge Outlook Report 2020 examines the development of Islamic finance education and the major opportunities and challenges facing the Islamic education sector.

In 2018, there were a total of 968 Islamic finance training providers in 77 countries around the world. Of the degrees available to aspiring Islamic finance professionals, bachelor’s degrees are most commonly offered, with a total of 605 available in subjects such as Islamic economics, Islamic banking, takaful, and capital markets. Islamic. These are mainly offered in Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Degrees are the second most widely offered, with 83 offered by 75 universities, mostly in Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, at executive and advanced levels. There has also been a noticeable increase in the number of Islamic finance courses outside of traditional markets as the industry expands globally.
