Light markets see a heavy rush of shoppers in the culture-rich town of Cuttack

Cut, October 23: Residents of the culturally rich millennial town of Cuttack thronged light markets at various locations on Sunday ahead of Diwali celebrations.

A heavy rush was marked in the Mani Sahu chhak where people were seen buying colored lights of different varieties there at different prices. Truly, a smile was seen on the faces of traders as people thronged the markets after a two-year break.

“We are happy for people to visit my shop and buy varieties of lights to decorate their homes on the occasion of Diwali. Lights with attractive designs are also available at affordable prices,” said Amardip Sahu, a trader.

Himanshu Sekhar Agasti, a customer, said, “It is an age-old tradition that we decorate our homes with colored lights on Diwali every year. I am happy to buy attractive light fixtures for my home.

“Diwali is a festival of lights. Stars and colored lights are available at affordable prices. We feel peace and pleasure when we see our houses adorned with lights of different colors,” said Rupa Vayadi, another customer.

Interestingly, a different degree of enthusiasm was marked among the townspeople. It could be seen as normalcy has been restored after the two years of Corona pandemic and festivals are celebrated with great pomp and spectacle.

Firecracker and flower sellers are also doing good business this year. There is an atmosphere of joy that is marked everywhere in the city.
