Ex-Citigroup, the head of RBC Capital Markets appointed last managing director of 17Capital

Secondary Private Equity Specialist 17Capital hired veteran CitiGroup and RBC exec Dane Graham as chief investment officer.

Graham will support the sourcing, underwriting and execution of strategic finance transactions in the form of preferred stock and NAV loans, and help grow the firm’s investment capital base.

He joins RBC Capital Markets, where he spent the past four years as Managing Director in the Financial Institutions group.

Previously, he spent 13 years at Citigroup, most recently as Managing Director of the Financial Institutions Group. He started his career at ExxonMobil.

Robert de Corainville, Managing Partner at 17Capital, said: “Dane has been familiar with the NAV Finance market since its inception and has a proven track record of creating value and helping companies strategically position themselves over the long term.

“As we continue to see record demand for our preferred equity and NAV Finance offerings, Dane joins as a key senior member of the investment team and will help us continue to grow our relationships with top GPs. and LPs.”

17Capital has raised $11 billion across six successive funds and mandates. In April, it raised $2.9 billion to close what would be the largest private credit fund raised since 2009.

The fundraising is the company’s first since its takeover by alternative investment giant Oaktree Capital in March.

Last year 17Capital has raised $4.5 billion for one of the largest capital pools ever dedicated to portfolio finance.

Other recent hires at the company include the arrival of investor relations veteran Drew Fox last month to lead its fundraising and IR in North America.
