The governor who said this during the inauguration of the center at the former Oba International Market site along the Onitsha-Owerri road said the state government had reaffirmed the site’s endorsement by the federal government for the construction of the drug distribution center in the state.

He said the construction of the new drug center would take no more than 24 months and after that all the drug dealers in the state would move to the site for the distribution and sale of drugs, which he said would reduce the influx of counterfeit and adulterated medicines. in the state.

Soludo expressed optimism that when completed, the project would become the largest drug distribution hub in Africa, saying the initiative fits with his administration’s overall vision of building a livable and prosperous homeland.

He said his administration placed great importance on people’s health, which he said was why his government remained committed to introducing measures for proper regulation in the drug administration sector.

The governor added that the Oba site would become the only approved location for wholesale drug distribution in the state after the deadline, expressing optimism that, in line with the envisioned smart megacity, the center would be focused on technology.

In his welcome speech, the chairman of Central Pharmaceutical and Allied Products Ltd, Mr. Uche Eze, said the project would be funded by Sterling Bank Plc and had a timeframe for completion of twenty-four months.
