NUR-SULTAN – Al Farabi Kazakh National University Center for Islamic Finance won the title of Best Emerging Islamic Finance Education Provider at the 2020 Global Islamic Finance Awards held online on September 14.
The center, considered the leading provider of Islamic education in the country and in Central Asia, was established in 2019 in cooperation with universities such as Hamad Bin Khalifa University of Qatar, Indonesian University of Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor, Amity University in India and Astana. International Financial Center.
It is designed to “train specialists of the highest qualification, further integrate into the global education system, develop basic and applied research and implement policies in the financial sector”.

GIFA is a prestigious award honoring individuals and institutions that have contributed to the advancement of Islamic banking and finance. Established in 2011 by Edbiz Corporation, an international Shariah consulting firm, the award aims to promote Islamic banking and finance worldwide. The inaugural ceremony of GIFA took place on December 7, 2011, within the framework of the Islamic Economic Forum of Oman (OIEF) and the Kazakh capital hosted the awards ceremony in September 2017. Kazakhstan’s first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, also received GIFA’s highest honor, Global Leader in Islamic Finance, in 2014 at the 10th World Islamic Economic Forum in Dubai.
